2016 CHA Alumni Award Winners

Brendan Flatow is a 1994 graduate of Chestnut Hill Academy and president of the CHA Alumni Association since 2012. Over the past four years as president, Brendan has been instrumental in enabling the Alumni Association to once again become a positive contributor to the SCH community. Driven by his passion for the traditions of Chestnut Hill Academy, as well as the memories from his time as a student, Brendan has worked tirelessly and spent countless hours discussing how traditions such as Patch Day, Blue & Blue Day, and Homecoming are invaluable to the SCH school experience for future students. 

While Bill currently goes by the title Head of Real Estate at Spring Creek Management and at the Barnes Foundation he was known as an Independent Project Manager, his skills and the magic he brings to any project belie these monikers. In fact, his keen ability to manage many people, constituents, and designs was supremely evident in his most public project to date: the building of Barnes Foundation. It sits majestically on Ben Franklin Parkway, as if it has been there forever. But if anyone can tell you that its mere existence is nothing less than a miracle, it is Bill. Thanks to him and several other miracle workers, the Barnes Foundation is one of Philadelphia’s crowning jewels.

Formerly known as the Special Recognition Award, the Steel Award, named for former Head of School Frank Steel, honors an alumnus who, over the course of many years, has made unique contributions and shown an outstanding and extraordinary devotion to the school.

Ted has assumed many roles at his beloved alma maters, Chestnut Hill Academy and Trinity College. A former trustee of both, he has delighted in playing a leadership role at each institution. He also played varsity squash at each school, and in 2001, he returned to Chestnut Hill Academy to coach its squash team to an undefeated season with a 17-0 record, winning both the Inter-Academic League and the Mid-Atlantic Squash Association Championships. In 2013, Ted was inducted into the Chestnut Hill Academy Athletic Hall of Fame honoring his coaching success.
