• Black Student Union

  BSU is a student-run organization that serves as a safe space for students who identify as being a person of African descent. Our goal is to foster opportunities to engage, enrich, and support black students. This activity advocates on behalf of black students and will represent black students in community matters and events.

• Cappies

  Cappies is a writing and awards program that trains high school theater and journalism students to be expert writers, critical thinkers, and leaders. Student critics vie to be published in local newspapers and other media by attending productions at other schools and writing critical reviews.

• Community Council

  Community Council strives to build and strengthen community through discussions, speakers, events, public service, and videos.

• Gay Straight Alliance

  The GSA is designed to empower SCH community members to be positive, supportive, and affirming to students, staff, and faculty who wish to talk about lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or questioning issues.

• Honor Council

  The Honor Council serves as role models for the student body. Their purpose is to promote honesty, academic integrity, and positive treatment of others, integrating the Upper School core values into daily community life.

• Math Peer Tutors

  Math Peer Tutors help students struggling in math and provide alternative methods of instruction for those who need it. It gives an opportunity for our strong math students to spend more time with the material by helping others.

• Model UN

  Model United Nations challenges students to solve real-world problems as representatives from countries from across the world. In the process of preparing for and participating in Model UN conferences, students build and employ research, public-speaking, negotiation, and collaboration skills. In addition to competing at the Ivy League Model United Nations Conference at the University of Pennsylvania each year, the SCH Model UN team plans and hosts its own local conference and engages in discussions on topics of contemporary interest.

• Players

  Players offers students a chance to learn about theater and production with two plays/musicals per year. Players students produce high-quality performances, develop a lifelong appreciation for theater and the arts, use technology and new media in their innovative theatrical productions, and foster a sense of community where all are welcome and accepted.

• "PUB:" Pop-Up Poetry

  The mission of PUB is to give student writers and artists an outlet for their work while raising awareness of literary and artistic endeavors on the SCH campus.

• Robotics

  The Robotics activity is designed for students to explore the competitive world of Robotics through the FIRST Robotics competitions, challenge themselves to learn new and technical skills, and learn valuable problem-solving and team-building techniques for the future. Our goal, as a team, is to build strong, lasting relationships with our peers. The Robotics team gives our students a chance to meet and work with some of the best engineering and programmers in the world. By challenging students at a competitive level, we are able to engage and intrigue students while also allowing them to learn a lot about engineering, math, science, and themselves.

• Service Council

  The Service Council oversees all service-learning opportunities and encourages their peers to do more than just volunteer. The council brings service to the local community and promotes it within the SCH community.

• Spanish Club

  The Spanish Club provides a place for all SCH students interested in Spanish to practice/improve their language skills while having fun. The Spanish Club promotes and celebrates the Hispanic language and culture. Students play Spanish games, learn how to dance, and make handicrafts among other activities. Students will also develop a better understanding and appreciation of Spanish-speaking cultures and countries.

• Student Athlete Advisory Council

  SAAC is a committee made up of Upper School student-athletes of all ages and is representative of all sports. On this council, students have a say in our athletic program. They discuss ideas with the athletic director, promote sportsmanship, and become a leader for SCH athletics.
  

• Student Ambassadors

  The mission of student ambassadors is to attract prospective students to SCH. Our Upper School students tour, speak to, and socialize with students considering our school.

• Student Council

  The elected class officers of Student Council address community issues and effect positive change and new policies to the Upper School. The students learn how to advocate for positive change under the guidance of the faculty advisor. This council acts as a solution-minded entity and serves as the liaison between the student body and administration.

• Student Facilitators

  Student facilitators are trained to facilitate discussions about a wide variety of diversity-related topics and cultural identifiers such as, but not limited to, race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ability, age, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status. Through the training, students acquire listening and communication skills and conflict-resolution strategies, practice real-time facilitation, and learn about the terminology, experiences, and histories of various marginalized groups. The regular training lunches prepare students to lead SCHout, a major, multi-school diversity conference, and Day of Understanding, our Upper School community's identity and diversity program.

• Voices

  This is an organization that delves into cultural and special interests. 

• Yearbook

  The purpose is to produce yearbook for end-of-year distribution and is considered to be a highly rewarding endeavour for the students. The staff must produce a product that is funny, interesting, and inclusive. The yearbook staff ensures that everyone is satisfied, while making important decisions, managing hard deadlines, and sometimes making mistakes and learning from them throughout the entire process.
