Message from Chair of the SCH Fund, John Detweiler

As an alumnus, I want SCH to maintain the tradition of excellence that I experienced as a student, including, but not limited to, rigorous academics, competitive athletics, and a dynamic arts program. As a parent, I want SCH to remain at the forefront of the college preparatory experience, equipping our children with the life skills they will need to be successful, regardless of the course they choose.
 
Thanks to outstanding new programs such as the Sands Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, Engineering and Robotics, The Arts and New Media, and our Outdoor and Trip Program, SCH students are not only acquiring an excellent intellectual foundation, but they are also developing a mindset of confidence, leadership, empathy, and resiliency, and mastering collaboration, communication, and problem solving. 
 
The SCH Fund supports the school’s longstanding legacy of exemplar academics and strong athletics as well as these other core and extracurricular programs that equip our children with competency and facilitate their future success and happiness. 
 
It is for these reasons that I and 1,563 others together donated over $2 million this past year to The SCH Fund to maintain SCH’s legacy of excellence and ensure the best possible future for our children.

Why Give to the SCH Fund?

You make the SCH experience possible. Your yearly gift to The SCH Fund, Springside Chestnut Hill Academy’s annual fund, ensures that SCH students receive the highest quality education possible.

Established in 2011 by combining Chestnut Hill Academy’s Blue and Blue Fund and Springside School’s Laurel Fund, The SCH Fund raises $2,000,000 annually and provides unrestricted support to the annual operating budget where it is needed most. As with most independent schools, tuition does not cover the cost of a student’s education. Representing approximately 7% of the annual budget, The SCH Fund helps to bridge the gap between tuition and expenses. Your gift has a direct impact on our students and faculty today as it supports the current fiscal year’s budget.

The SCH Fund benefits every aspect of our school. Fine arts, athletics, Sands Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, engineering and robotics, outdoor programs, financial aid, and faculty and professional development all rely on The SCH Fund.
 

Participation Counts

The SCH Fund runs from July 1 to June 30. Participation from parents, grandparents, alumni, faculty, and friends, at any giving level, sends an important message to the SCH community. It demonstrates to the entire SCH community as well as to prospective parents and donors that our extended community believes strongly in SCH’s commitment to preparing our students for excellence and achievement. A high percentage of giving by those closest to the school—parents, alumni, faculty, parents of alumni, and grandparents—often positively influences contributions from foundations and corporations.

It is our hope that all members of the SCH community will share in this responsibility and choose to support The SCH Fund at whatever level they are most comfortable with.

Our family has been a part of the SCH community since 1999, and we have been supporting the annual fund ever since. We are thrilled to support the fantastic teachers who educate our children and the amazing facilities SCH has to offer. Unique programs like the steel drum band, the state-of-the-art squash courts, and the amazing golf team are all made possible by The SCH Fund. We are grateful for all SCH does for our children and happy we can give back.
