    Head Coach: Julia Rorer

The SCH girls rowing program emphasizes the development of the scholar-athlete in a true team sport. That development starts and ends with continued self-improvement in all the training skills needed to be successful: commitment, lifestyle, time management, strength, conditioning, and mental discipline.

We begin with teaching basic rowing skills, sculling first and then sweeping. Then we teach the rower to row skillfully. Secondly, we teach rowing competition skills and then teach the rower to race skillfully.

We row out of the University Barge Club on Philadelphias Boathouse Row. We have training facilities at the Vare Field House: rowing tanks, rowing ergometers, and a full fitness center.

We compete in the Philadelphia Scholastic Rowing Associations Manny Flick City Series Regattas, the Stotesbury Cup Regatta (the largest scholastic regatta in the world), the Scholastic Rowing Association of America (SRAA) Championships, and the U.S. Rowing Association Youth Championships, as well as other local regattas as scheduling permits. In past years, we have won Philadelphia City Championships, Stotesbury Championships, SRAA Championships and have had numerous finalist finishes in all of our races.

Many of our rowers go on to row in college and at the very least are able to use their successful SCH rowing experience as a steppingstone to college admittance.
