Athletes of the Week Ending 9/27

The following students have been named Athletes of the Week ending September 27:

Michael Iacovelli '27 - Soccer -  Michael was heavily involved in the Hillers' most productive week of the season thus far. Against The Hill School, he played three different positions throughout the game, giving the team what it needed in some really difficult moments. Later in the week, while away at Shipley, Michael was lively and dangerous from the opening whistle. This helped lead the boys to a 3-2 win over the perennial Friends' League power, and he personally finished with 1 goal and 2 assists. Well done, Michael!

Aaron Clark '26 - Football - Aaron had 3 explosive plays and 2 TDs in his 4 receptions for a 135-yard performance against Lawrenceville. His presence stretched the defense thin and also helped the offense rush for over 200 yards. His growth and work ethic during his SCH career have been impressive, and he is ready to have a huge impact as the Inter-Ac season approaches.

Carson Gilbert '29 - Soccer - Carson has been super consistent in the back for the JV team this year. He arrives at practice every day ready to learn and get better. Carson has also become a leader on the team as well and we appreciate his effort! Great work, Carson!

Jack Mellor '30 - Soccer - Jack scored the game-winning goal for the MSB varsity team last week against Episcopal Academy. His no-quit attitude and hustle make him a player to watch out for on offense! Keep it up, Jack!

James Owens '30 - Football - James anchors our line at center and has been a consistent leader for our 8th-grade class. In our first scrimmage, James was dominant in the trenches, leading to multiple rushing touchdowns. We are looking to James to continue to be a force up front throughout the year!

William Fuld '32 - Soccer - William has been a strong contributor both on the field and in goal for the MSB JV team! His hard work and determination have led to him making a lot of great saves and providing our first goal of the season against EA. William is a great teammate, and we can’t wait to see him build on his success this season! Awesome job, William!

Her hustle and work ethic are amazing, and she gets better and better every time she steps on the field! We are proud of you, Nadia! Dream Crazy!

Finley Redpath '26 & Scarlett Spector '26 - Tennis - Finley and Scarlett, playing together for the first time at #1 doubles, battled back after losing the first set to win their match in a third-set tiebreaker 11-9. Both players bounced back after the slow start, and I am excited to see what this senior duo can produce this season. Congrats to you both!

Brandon Varga '27 - Golf - Brandon shot a 39 in the Inter-Ac Invitational hosted by Penn Charter at Huntington Valley Country Club last week. He led our team for the best score, and he tied for 11th individually. His progress has been steady and impressive, and clearly shows the work he is putting in on the course and at practice. Keep it up, Brandon!

Rollins Whitten '27 & Maryn Delp '29 - Tennis - Rolly and Maryn were relentless in their determination to beat the Hill School on Saturday. They lost the first set in a tiebreaker, and they were down, but not out. They adjusted in the second set and narrowly won 6-4. The third set was a 10-point tiebreaker, and as fierce competitors, Rolly and Maryn crushed their opponents 10-6 for the win and secured an overall SCH tie 3-3 for the day vs Hill School. Great job, Rolly and Maryn!

Audrey Lane '31 - Soccer - Audrey has put in the hard work in practices, and she is now starting on the varsity backline as a result. She has been a solid defender, and her left foot has provided strength on that side of the field. With some tough opponents already this season, Audrey has been showing she is very capable and in the right spot. Great job, Audrey!

Megan McTamney '31 - Volleyball - Megan is everything a coach could ask for. Her leadership on the court, hustle in every play and positive energy have truly set the tone for the team. Colin McFadden '27 - Football - Colin has been a leader on our defense with his play and character all season. Against Lincoln, he led an impressive effort against a talented team with 11 tackles, 1 sack, 2 QB pressures, and a 3rd down stop. His work ethic and desire to be his best shine through on a daily basis. He embodies our team motto of “TEAM” - Toughness, Effort, Attention to detail, and not ME, us".

Anna Qawasmy '27 - Soccer- Anna, a new junior to SCH and the varsity goalkeeper, had 5 key saves to help the team beat Conestoga last Saturday. Most notably, a very big stop in the last 5 minutes of the game when we were only up by one goal to seal our victory! Anna also tallied 4 saves in the close loss to PC. Keep up the good work, Anna!

Pat Donohue '26 - Soccer - Pat, a senior captain, scored our lone goal against The Hun School last Tuesday, and what a goal it was! Pat has a habit of showing his quality when we need it most. We were down by a goal when he hit a worldie with his weaker left foot, hitting the upper right post before traveling in. We're looking forward to more moments of magic from Pat this fall.  Keep climbing, sir!

Sidney Smith '27 - Volleyball - Sidney was excellent last week vs Lawrenceville and Perkiomen with 7 kills, 5 blocks, and 3 aces. As a middle, Sidney is responsible for challenging each and every opponent’s attacker as well as initiating our offense. She is a force to be reckoned with on the court, and if you've seen it live, you’d know! Her attacks are from a height that few others can contend with, and the power with which she attacks is a sound you can feel- when she connects on a block, the whole gym knows! Keep it up, #9!
