The following students have been named Athletes of the Week ending May 2:
Ella Thomson '27 - Softball - Ella has been a very consistent hitter all season, tallying 13 hits in 10 games, and she is second in batting average with a .382. She is extremely versatile on defense and can be relied on to make the plays at second base or in the outfield. In the game vs Notre Dame last week, she hit a huge 3-run home run and scored 3 times! Her quiet leadership and hard work do not go unnoticed! Congrats, Ella!
Jaylen Gordy '28 - Track & Field - Jaylen has been working hard as a sprinter since the indoor track season of his freshman year. Now a sophomore, Jaylen has become a key contributor, most notably this season as the third leg of our Penn Relay team. Congratulations Jaylen! Your never-give-up attitude is inspiring, and we all look forward to seeing what you accomplish next year!
Addison Murphy ‘28 - Golf - Addison shot a 47 at Overbook Golf Club last week to qualify for the league championships as one of the top 11 point scorers this season. She has been a consistent scorer for the Devils this year and is an excellent addition to the SCH and the team! This past week, Addison represented SCH alongside Sammi Acuna ‘26 in the championships at Sandy Run Country Club on Tuesday and finished 10th in a pool of very talented golfers. Addison’s future is bright with the Blue Devils’ golf program!
Alyssa Brown '28 - Track & Field - Alyssa's steely work ethic and positive attitude, which are on display at every practice, yielded great results at Germantown Academy last week, where she PR'd in the 1600m race. Alyssa shaved nearly nine seconds from her previous personal record, finishing with a time of 6:21.62. Congratulations, Alyssa, for your consistent effort and continuously improving speed!
David Cupchak '29 - Baseball - David has been lights out on the mound all season for the JV baseball team. Not only has he started many of the team’s biggest games, but over the last week, he has been especially clutch, coming in as relief in three straight games, stabilizing the team, and closing out all three wins. He leads the team in innings pitched and strikeouts, while posting an impressive ERA of about 1.50. David has been a huge part of the team’s recent success, helping fuel a six-game winning streak and victories in nine of their last ten games. Great work, David!
Campbell Goodwin '30 - Tennis - Campbell has had a really strong second half to his season for the MSB varsity tennis team! The match this week started by trading a few games with Shipley. After settling in, he ran away with it, 8-2. He followed that up by not dropping a single game (8-0) against Malvern. His composure and decision making on the court have been consistent, carrying through the end of the year. Well done, Campbell!
Jacob Klayman '30 - Lacrosse - Jacob, a standout defenseman for the MSB varsity squad, has had a dominant defensive presence all season. He combines physical play, high lacrosse IQ, and leadership that elevates the entire team. Jacob excels in ground ball battles, timely checks, smart clears, and shutting down opposing attackers. His composure and reliability in big moments anchor the Blue Devils’ defense! Additionally, Jacob leads by example with his work ethic, positivity, and ability to motivate teammates. Way to go, Jacob!
